Happy Holidays!
A time for rest, reflection, and renewal
Christina Thomas, Head of School
December 2019
This school year has been a list of firsts for the Journey School. We have successfully opened our first elementary classroom. We celebrated Halloween with our first Trunk or Treat festivities. We were featured on the cover of Washington Family Magazine and TJS was approached to be the face of the local Giant Recycle Bag Fundraising Program for the months of October and November. The upper school spent 3 incredible days liviing and working on the Chesapeake Bay with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Newly written Chesapeake Bay lessons and curriculum, including community meals that coordinate with the history of food in the United States were implemented. We volunteered by removing tree sleeves from growing saplings at the Tridelphia Resevoir Environmental Steward program. Lower School Yoga and Upper School electives were introduced this year. Lastly, this blog is the first for our website and will include guest writers and a variety of topics about Montessori, education, and family. These firsts become habits and program expectations for future years of our growing program. But for now, we rest as we plan for more firsts in the coming decade. Wishing you a restful, reflective, and renewed new year!
